Create custom roles
Make your own roles, like Estimator or Lead tech, with exactly the permissions you choose.
Included on the Growth plan. Compare plans
If Owner, Office and Crew don't fit how your business runs, make your own role. For example, an Estimator who can quote but not invoice, or a Lead tech who can schedule the crew but can't see prices.
Create a role
- Open Settings → Team & roles.
- Click New role.
- Enter a Role name and a short Description.
- Under What they can do, tick the permissions this role should have. See Roles and permissions for what each one allows.
- Click OK.
Everyone can already see their own schedule and visits, clock in and out, add photos and notes, and view customers. You don't need to tick anything for that.
Start from an existing role
- Open the Roles tab.
- On any role except Owner, click the copy icon (Make a custom copy on built-in roles, Duplicate on your own).
- Change the name and permissions, then save.
In the app, open More → Team & roles, tap a role and tap Make a custom copy.
Give someone the role
On the People tab, pick the new role from the Role menu in their row.
Edit or delete a role
- Click the pencil on your role to change it. Changes apply to everyone with that role within a minute.
- Click the trash icon to delete it. You can only delete a role nobody has, so move people to another role first.
Built-in roles can't be edited or deleted.
Heads up: If you move off the Growth plan, you can't create or edit custom roles any more. Check Why is a feature locked?
