E-signatures and signing in person

How your customer signs a quote online, what the signed record includes, and how to get a signature on your iPhone or iPad at the job site.

Your customer signs right on the quote page, on any phone or computer. No app or account needed. If you're standing with them, they can sign on your iPhone or iPad instead.

How your customer signs online

  1. They open the link from your email or text.
  2. If the quote has choices or optional items, they make their picks. The total updates.
  3. Under Accept this proposal they draw their signature with a finger or mouse (Clear starts over).
  4. They type their full name.
  5. They tick the box agreeing to sign electronically. They can't accept without it. The box says: "I agree to use an electronic signature. By drawing my signature, typing my name and clicking or tapping Accept, I am signing this proposal electronically, with the same effect as a handwritten signature, and intend to enter into a binding agreement."
  6. They tap Accept. The button shows the total they're agreeing to.

The page then shows Proposal signed, with who signed and when. The quote is locked: neither they nor you can change it after signing. To change the work, see Deposits, expiration and revisions.

A quote can't be signed after its Quote valid until date. See Deposits, expiration and revisions.

Sign in person on iPhone or iPad

  1. In the app, open the quote from Quotes.
  2. Tap Sign now in person. (The quote needs a total above $0.)
  3. Hand over the device. Your customer picks any choices and add-ons, types their name and signs in the box.
  4. They turn on the agreement switch and tap Accept and sign.

If the quote was still a draft, the app makes its link live first, without emailing the customer. The signature is recorded the same way as signing online, so the record matches.

The signed record

Every signature keeps:

  • The drawn signature and typed name
  • The date and time
  • The IP address it was signed from, and the device's browser details
  • The exact consent statement they agreed to (the same words shown next to the checkbox)

The PDF shows the signature, name and date, followed by an Electronic signature record with the IP address and consent statement.

Download the PDF

Open the quote's link (in the editor, click Open in the Public link card; a draft needs sending first) and click Download PDF. Your customer has the same button, before and after signing. After signing, the PDF shows the options they chose.
